First through Eighth Grade: Forming Faithful Families
The pandemic allowed us to plan a totally new model of faith formation in 2020-2021. As we plan for 2021-2022, we intend to take what worked during Covid (playlists and connecting with families) and merge it with what worked in years past (Fridays Faith & Family). Specifically, a family model with focus on the lectionary (weekly readings) and the liturgical calendar (church seasons). Second graders and their parents will continue to have additional sessions that focus on sacramental prep. If you have a child in kindergarten, we encourage you to register him or her for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Families will be invited to gather at Assumption School for 75 minutes one Sunday morning per month, September through April, in the school gym. Families will have four options to choose from each month: two Sundays per month with two different time slots each Sunday. You will select your dates and times of choice after you have resgistered your family.
After some time spent talking about our faith as a family with other families, the children will go into grade appropriate break out rooms with two catechists while parents remain in the gym. On the Sundays we are not face to face, all families will be provided flexible, weekly, guided resources (playlists) for you to implement at home. These resources will focus on the theme of the Gospel and the church seasons. Families will select the resources that best fit the make up of their family and the needs of their children. It is our hope and our expectation that you will embrace this new approach and allow it to enrich the faith formation of your family and your domestic church. We also ask that you be patient and flexible with us as we learn and grow together.
We are asking each family to pay $175 for one child, $25 for each additional child with a $225 maximum. There will be an additional $50 fee for each 2nd grader to cover the cost of their workbook, chalice, and banner.
